Artiste manager and event organiser, Papa Loggy has observed ninety-nine percent of Ghanaian musicians are poor.

The laziness on the part of artiste managers and their artistes, according to him, is the cause of the poverty that has engulfed them. He claims managers rely on shows their artistes get for survival instead of chasing deals.

“Most of the managers survive when artistes get gigs and because managers are more concerned about how much they get from the gig, they stretch deliberations and artistes end up losing the show. Most managers take fifteen percent (15%) of the amount their artistes get from shows and that tells you that if the artiste doesn’t get a big show, the manager goes hungry. They survive through the shows that come on board,” he said on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz on Wednesday.

Papa Loggy who is also the manager of highlife artiste, Daasebre Gyamena stated that his experience with most Ghanaian artistes is enough to prove his claim.

“I’ve worked with almost 99% of Ghanaian artistes. I know how much they make. Apart from shows and waiting for endorsement deals, you have no idea how they suffer to survive. So many Ghanaian artistes owe. Some go for loans to shoot their videos,” he noted.

When show host, Sammy Flex asked if the situation has come as a result of a system failure, Papa Loggy answered in the negative.

“It is not the system; the artistes are lazy. They do not make any move. They always wait for corporate entities to approach them. When you make the move, it doesn’t mean you are cheap. Once you get the money, how you got it is needless… Ghanaian artiste managers are so incompetent. They are the major cause of artistes going hungry,” he opined.
