Some aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have sued the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings.

The suit filed at the High Court seeks to challenge the election of Dr. Zanetor.

The aggrieved members including Joseph Narku Botchway, Jacob Amin, Alhaji Mohammed Mahmud and Reverend Michael Kwabena Nii Adjei Sowah say Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, is not qualified to be elected as Parliamentary Candidate of the party because she is not a registered voter in Ghana.

Other defendants in the suit are the NDC and the Electoral Commission.

The four NDC members want the court to declare the election of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings “null and void” and order the NDC to conduct fresh elections in the constituency.

Earlier, a private legal practitioner, Gary Nimako, wrote a letter to the Electoral Commission demanding it to find out whether the name of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings was captured in the nation’s voters register or not.

Gary Nimako in the letter demanded that the EC should also provide information on the date her name was entered in the nation’s electoral roll.

Reliefs being sought by the aggrieved NDC members are:

1.A declaration that Dr. Zanetors Rawlings’ election as a parliamentary candidate elect for the Klottey Korle constitutency is null and void and its of no effect as it violate the constitution of the NDC and the rules governing the conduct of the 2016 parliamentary primaries.

2.An order of injunction restraining Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, her agents or assigns or anyone claiming through her form holding herself out or allowing herself to be held out by the other defendants as the parliamentary candidate elect for the constituency until the matters in dispute are heard and disposed off by this honourable court.

3.An order of court directed at the NDC for a rerun of the parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korle constituency for the other two aspirants in accordance with this constitution and regulations governing the 2016 parliamentary primaries within two weeks of the annulment of Dr. Zanator Rawlings’ election.
