Ajax Cape Town hoping to register Ghanaian defender Lawrence Lartey in time ahead of CAF Confederation Cup next year

South African side Ajax Cape Town are hoping to register Ghanaian defender Lawrence Lartey in time ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup next year.

Clubs have until January 15, 2016 to submit their squad to the continent’s governing body, CAF.

Lartey joined the side on a two-year deal last month after an impressive trial session.

The Ghanaian defender is still awaiting his work permit which will pave way for him to be registered.

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sá is hoping the new recruit will be registered in time.

‘I’m hoping we’ll get the permit before the 15th of January, because that’s the cut-off date for Africa,” he said

“So we are trying to speed things up so we can register him (Lawrence Lartey) as a PSL player before the 15th of January to make him eligible to play in the CAF competition.”

Ajax will take on Angolan side Sagrada Esperanca in the preliminary stage of the competition with the first leg slated for slated for February 12-14.
