Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed the reason behind Jeffrey Schlupp’s absence in Monday night’s clash with Chelsea in the English Premier League.

The Ghana left-back was missing as the Foxes posted a 2-1 victory over reigning champions Chelsea at the King Power Stadium to move back to the top of the league table.

“Jeffrey Schlupp has a little problem with his hamstring but I don’t know how long that will take,”Ranieri told Foxes Player HD.

Striker Jamie Vardy put the home side ahead on 34 minutes after picking out a neatly-weighted Riyad Mahrez cross from the right. Mahrez then turned finisher 14 minutes later, finding the left hand corner of the net.

Substitute Loic Remy fetched the visitors’ only consolation in the 77th minute.

“I’m very pleased,” Ranieri said of his team’s performance.

“We played one hour fantastic and in the last 30 minutes, we suffered but it’s normal when you play against big champions like Chelsea. It was an amazing match but our spirit was great.

“We played together and we pressed together and I’m very pleased for the players and for the fans. They pushed a lot behind us and they are dreaming. They have to dream, not us.”

Jeffery Schlupp has played 14 league games for the Foxes this season, but as yet to start a game since returning from Ghana’s 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying double-header triumph over Comoros in November.
