AshantiGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo says they have been handed a tough CAF Champions League draw but adamant Ghanaian champions can go far.
The Miners begin their campaign against Algerian Ligue 1 runners-up MO Bejaia in the first qualifying round in February next year.
“We are ready to take on any club on the continent. Preparation started the very day we won the league and confirmed our participation in the CAF Champions league,” Fianoo said.
“We have beefed up the playing staff and working on blending the retained and the new players.
“We have a team that is capable of playing both competitions with equal strengths as a well.”
AshGold are making a return to the contingent’s flagship inter-clubs competition since 2008 when they got eliminated by another Algerian side JS Kabylie.
MO Bejaia are currently sixth on the Algeria top-flight table after 14 rounds of matches.
