The National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch of the Bawku Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, has formed a zonal association that seeks to address issues that arose from the party’s primaries ahead of the 2016 general election.

The NDC after its primaries has had to deal with disagreements, some of which has forced the party to suspend some  persons who were defeated in the primaries.

At the inauguration of the group, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Ndego Mohammed Awindago, called for forgiveness and a swift reconciliation and unity within the rank and file of the party in the constituency.

He said the destiny of the people of Ghana and the Bawku constituency in particular, is in the hands of the NDC, adding they cannot disappoint them in 2016 by losing power to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Ndego Awindago explained that the out-dooring of the group said is a bold step and an important decision taken to ensure the party is united before the 2016 election.

“We stand tall and strong, united than divided. And if we wish to wrestle and take control of power that we are currently holding on to, we need to forgive and forget all that happened during the primaries and fix ourselves together as a united force full of strength in order to win power again,” Mr. Ndego stated.

He further thanked NDC members in Bawku for overwhelmingly endorsing the candidature of President John Dramani Mahama and also congratulated the Member of Parliament for the area Mr. Mahama  Ayariga for being re-elected to lead the party in the Bawku Central constituency.

He also congratulated all the contestants in the race for comporting themselves but urged them not to leave the party over one disagreement or the other.
