Andre Ayew
Swansea winger Andre Ayew has described life at the club as “difficult” since the dismissal of manager Gary Monk.
The English coach was given the boot on Wednesday following a run of poor results, having won just one of his last 11 matches.
Monk succeeded Michael Laudrup in February 2014, and guided the Jacks to their best-ever finish in the topflight last season.
“It’s been a difficult week with Garry’s departure,” Ayew told the club’s official website.
“He had been at the club for so long and done so much for the club.
“We’re trying to move forward and get the results we need, and hopefully we can get out of this situation.”
Ayew was played out of his regular position, leading the line in Saturday’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Wilfried Bony scored for the home side on 26 minutes before substitute Bafetimbi Gomis restored parity in the 90th minute. Youngster Kelechi Iheanacho, however, sealed victory for City with an injury time strike.
“I’ve played in a lot of positions, so I can adapt,” Ayew added.
“This is the second time I’ve played in this position, and if I play more there, then I’ll get better.
“We have intelligent players who can cope with different positions and formations, so it’s not a problem for us.”
Ayew joined Swansea in the summer from French side Marseille, and currently sees his Welsh outfit sitting 16th on the league log.
