Mouloudia Olympique Bejaia was formed in 1954 and are based in Bejaia. They play their home matches at Stade de l’Unité Maghrébine which is a 12,000 capacity.

The Crab as they are nicknamed will be making their debut African Inter Clubs campaign against the 1997 CAF Champions League losing finalist.

M.O Bejaia have never won the Algerian topflight league before, but clinched the 3rd tier league in Algeria in the 2010-11 season. The highest honours attained by the Algerian outfit was winning the Algerian Cup in 2015 and also placed 2nd in the league last season to earn them a place in the CAF Champions League.

They are currently lying 5th on the Algerian league log after 13 matches with 3 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats.

The worry for Ashgold ahead of their clash against M.O Bejaia in 14th February, 2016 is that Ghanaian clubs have eliminated Algerian oppositions once in 11 knockout encounters. Hearts of Oak in 1982 during the Cup Winners Cup managed to see off USK Algiers.

And 10 have gone the way of the North Africans, including their last two engagements with Ghanaian outfits: Kotoko were knocked out in 2013 and 2015 against JSM Bejaia and MC El Eulma, respectively.

Their opponent, Ashgod’s only encounter against an Algerian opposition came in 2008 and they were knocked out by JS Kabylie in the CAF Champion League.
