Premiership campaigners Bechem United are expected to fly out of the country to oil-rich Saudi Arabia on a tentative date of December 20, club president Kingsley Owusu-Achau has said.

The trip is to keep players of the team on their toes while awaiting the commencement of the 2015/16 league season which is uncertain, due to some legal tussles.

He said in an interview that ‘we want to get the team busy as we wait for the commencement of the league. As we speak, we don’t know exactly when it will kick off and we don’t want them to get rusty.

‘Management and our foreign partners thought it prudent to send the team outside to prepare well ahead of the season. We actually don’t know the exact day for the commencement, and we don’t want to take chances, hence this initiative.’

And responding to the choice of venue regarding the exercise, he said, ‘I must admit it is expensive flying the team outside, but I can tell you sitting idle without doing anything is more expensive in the era we live in.

‘We take consolation in the fact that it falls within the club’s  philosophy of giving our players the needed exposure to realize their true potential as we strengthen our academy system,’ he added.

Meanwhile, the club will this Sunday unveil its new players at a special function at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region as well as launch its academy project.
