Ghanaian Gospel singer/songwriter, Nhyira Betty has admitted that Ghanaian Gospel musicians are not spared from depression and other physiological issues.

The ‘Barima Ena’ singer told Felix Adjei (Mr. Lattus) on J.life FM’s Entertainment Chart Show that depression is something that musicians are more likely to suffer but Gospel musicians are motivated to move on because they are doing the work of God.

“I will agree with you if say majority of Gospel musicians go under depression. We do suffer a lot but since everybody has his/her private matter, it is difficult to determine who suffers the fate.

“We endure a lot of hardship but what keep us going is that we are doing the work of God. Sacrificing your life for His work pleases Him and He will surely reward you for whatever you do in His name,” she said.

However, Nhyira Betty said the Most High God is capable of delivering them from any difficulties.

According to her, most musicians do not have the capacity to stand against it and sometimes abandon their careers as a result.

She however, enthused that they should gather courage to face any challenges.

“That’s the reason why most people give up on God in trial times, but anyone who waits upon the Lord will surely have a renewed strength.”

Nhyira Betty hinted of her upcoming fascinating tracks – which would be released in the coming years.

A recent study by charity Help Musicians UK found that over 60% of musicians have suffered from depression or other psychological issues.
