Amenfi by-election: Veep campaigns for NDC candidate

In their quest to retain the Amenfi West seat in the Western Region, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the people in the area to be mindful of the legacy of the late MP and vote the NDC to retain the seat.

December 15 been slated as the date for a by-election in the Amenfi West constituency following the death of the Member of Parliament for the area, John Gyetuah.

Speaking at a mini rally after donating to the late MP’s family on Thursday, the Vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur explained that the good work of the late MP should motivate them to vote massively for the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate, Eric Afful.

Mr. Amissah Arthur also urged the people of Amenfi West to ensure that Mr Afful emerged winner after the poll saying, “Eric Afful is coming to continue the good works the late MP did. He is coming to continue the good work of the NDC.”

The Vice president also advised the people to avoid complacency and turn out in their numbers to vote on Tuesday.

The other candidates contesting 41-year old Eric Afful for the Amenfi West seat are Mr Abraham Kwadwo Buadee, a 41-year-old accountant for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Mr Paul Derkyi, 43 a lawyer, for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr Elvis Adjei, a 30-year-old Loan administrator for the United Front Party (UFP).
