London, Dec. 9, (GNA/dpa) – Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge faces another spell on the sidelines after straining his hamstring, British media reported Wednesday.

Sturridge came on as a substitute in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle at the weekend and a scan on Tuesday revealed the strain, the Guardian reported.

A timetable has not been put on the England international’s return but the Liverpool Echo said he is likely to be out for three to four weeks.

He had just returned to the line-up on Nov. 29 after missing nearly two months with a knee problem.

Sturridge has been plagued by injury for the past two years and underwent hip surgery in May. He has made just six appearances this season, scoring four goals.
