THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned Kotoko players against collecting bribes to play it soft against opponents.
He said there had been unconfirmed rumours that some faceless people pay Kotoko players to intentionally lose games.
Otumfuo, who is the owner of Kotoko, stated that such acts, if they were true, ought to stop with immediate effect in the interest of the players.
He stated that Kotoko is the spirit of Asanteman, and he (Otumfuo) is the spiritual head, and anybody that would plan evil against Kotoko would suffer.
‘If you receive losing bonuses from people to disgrace Kotoko, then bear in mind that you are doing so at the peril of your careers’, he warned.
Otumfuo, who made a surprise visit to Kotoko’s Adako Jarchie Training grounds in Kumasi, charged the players to serve the club faithfully.
Otumfuo admonished the Kotoko players to give off their best for the club, assuring them that there would be a reward for their faithful service.
He ordered management to settle every outstanding monies it owed the players before the start of the upcoming season.
