Kenichi With Sabahn QuayeHearts coach and team manager clash on training grounds

Hearts of Oak’s recovery training on Monday was disrupted by a bust-up between coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi and team manager Sabahn Quaye.

The new Japanese trainer of the Phobians traded insults with his team manager during a team briefing before Monday’s training session.

Sabahn Quaye was harshly cut-off by his head coach after being given permission to speak to the players following their return from a disappointing 4-1 defeat to West African Football Academy in a friendly match.

Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi was very critical of the performance of his players and expected the rest of the members of his technical team to tow a similar line in their turns to speak to the players.

But Sabahn Quaye departed from this, rather urging the players to put behind the disappointing result as it was a mere friendly.

Kenichi Yatsuhashi, not happy with the approach of his team manager furiously instructed him to ‘shut up’ while belittling his influence on the team as a mere ‘logistics officer’.

Sabahn Quaye, who is not easily cowed responded in equal measure as the other members of the technical team and players stepped in to break up the war of words between the two.

This is the second altercation to have ensured between the two since the appointment of coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

Attempts were made to re-assign Sabahn Quaye as a logistics officer.

It is rumoured to be initiated by Managing Director Gerald Ankrah who apparently has a bone to pick with Sabahn Quaye.

Quaye returned to the Hearts of Oak bench last year after having a brief stint at Liberty Professionals.

He is however considered an extremely powerful and regarded as an untouchable whenever there is a change in technical direction of the club.
