With football and social media’s great partnership these days, fans across the globe get information on the spot the bad records spread like wildfire.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel put one in his own net over the weekend and the smart pants quickly compiled a list of top own goals scorers in Premier League history with Richard Dunne leading the pack with 10 own goals as Skrtel joined Carragher at 7 own goals with his strike against Newcastle United.

Ghana international John Paintsil makes the top 5 of players to have scored more own goals considering the number of appearances in Premier League history.

John Paintsil during his time with Fulham scored four own goals in 94 appearances putting him fourth on the list with an own goal in every 24 Premier League games.
