Asante Kotoko Coach David Duncan was forced by the club’s Life Patron Osei Tutu II to honour the SWAG Cup match which was played last Sunday against Ashgold, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Sources close to the management of the Porcupine Warriors disclosed to Ghanasoccernet.com that the technical head of the team was not happy with the request to play the game, insisting that the team had just commenced their pre-season.

The source further said that Coach Duncan explained that the team had just finsished their physical build up and playing the game will not put the team in the best of shapes.

However, the Life Patron and owner of the Kumasi-based side, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II insisted that they honour the game which the head could do little to decline.

The Porcupine Warriors eventually won the game by a lone goal couttesy a late minute free kick by Eric Donkor to lift the trophy for the 14th time and Duncan’s third.

“The SWAG Cup was being played for the first time in four years and the Life Patron of the club felt it was an honour bestowed on the club to play, hence insisting that the club honoured the game,” the added.
