Former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has urged the Black Stars to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ghana is chasing a fourth successive World Cup berth having played in the last three editions of the competition.

The Black Stars defeated Comoros 2-0 on aggregate to progress to the Group stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Kwesi Appiah who guided the Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is backing the team to make yet another appearance at the Mundial.

“I think the next stage, thus the Group stage will be a little difficult unlike the preliminary rounds,” he said in an exclusive interview after a friendly game between Asante Kotoko and the 1992 Black Stars squad at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday.

“This stage is where you face all the big and good teams in Africa but notwithstanding I know and believe the Black Stars can make it.” “They should just keep up their form and try as much as possible to get good results in the games, and I strongly believe they can qualify for Russia 2018.

Appiah, former National star become the first black Coach to qualify the Black Stars to the World Cup.

He is currently the head coach for Sudanese side Al Khartoum Waatani.
