Rome, Dec. 5, (GNA/dpa) – Serie A champions Juventus won 2-0 at Lazio Friday moving within four points of the top as they clinched a fifth straight win.
Paulo Dybala fired home a great shot after an own goal by Santiago Gentiletti opened the scoring and Juve controlled the remainder of the game to continue their recovery from a negative start to the season.
The Turin side, who got a single point from the first three games, now sit fifth on 27 points from 15 games.
Leaders Napoli have 31 points before Sunday’s encounter at lowly Bologna.
“We won a difficult game which makes our pace consistent,” Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said. “We must be humble. We are fifth, which is not a good thing considering Juve’s history.”
At Rome’s Stadio Olimpico, Gentiletti stunned his own goalkeeper Federico Marchetti in the seventh minute deflecting a taut cross from Dybala in an attempt to block by Mario Mandzukic.
The Argentine Dybala then struck in the 32nd with a smashing effort into the low right corner after an elegant control outside the box. He has scored seven goals in his first season in Turin.
Lazio brought on the dynamic Keita Balde and Felipe Anderson, plus former Juve striker Alessandro Matri, and kept a fast pace in the second half but never truly troubled the Bianconeri’s defence.
They sit 10th on 19 points, having got a single point from the last six games
