The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked its members to ignore attacks by former First Lady and leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.
Mrs. Rawlings, wife of Mr, Rawlings, Founder of the NDC, in an address to her supporters in the Volta Region, questioned why President John Mahama lashed out at Ghanaians who criticize him.
She said “whatever it is, criticism is good for your own spiritual growth and upbringing and helps you to improve on your way of life…it is very important to have criticism because it helps to bring you back in line. But if you say that you will not agree to anyone criticizing you because they have never been in your position, then you are someone we should put a big question mark on and not look at you as a leader at all,” she added.
But a statement signed by the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho, accused Mrs. Rawlings of conspiring with the opposition NPP to run down President Mahama.
The statement which asked members of the NDC to ignore Mrs. Rawlings said “It is common knowledge that she is in cahoots with the fast-sinking NPP and because the party is under serious pressure, she has decided to attack the NDC so we go into a dog fight with her to create an escape route for NPP.”
Anyidoho further directed communicators of the party not to comment on the issue in the media saying “On all media networks; let us just use ‘no comment’ to ignore her and stay focused on our game plan.”
