The bankroller of Bechem United Kingsley Owusu- Achau says plans are advanced for the construction of a modern library facility for the club at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region.

A sod-cutting ceremony, graced by Nana Kusi Boadum, Domeabrahene and a patron of the club, attracted a large crowd to the construction site a few weeks ago.

According to the contractors, the facility would be completed in 12 months, and it is expected to equip players of Bechem United with the needed philosophy of the club as well as empower them with literacy training.

The club’s president said the project, which includes children’s play ground, is to toe the line of clubs like Tottenham Hotspur as part of efforts to indoctrinate the core values of the club to the players, especially the juniors.

‘We are embarking on a lot of projects to take the club to the level of a modern-day soccer side. Like it is done abroad, we don’t want the players to go through the club but rather be part of the club.

‘Through the academy and the library system, the players would be indoctrinated and they will automatically feel part of the club, so then they don’t just play for the team but see themselves as core members of the club.

‘Football is one of the major tools that have the potential to transform and that is one of the reasons for putting up this facility.’

The construction of the library is one of the many projects the club is embarking on which would be launched officially on December 13.
