Akufo Addo NPP DiasporaNana Akufo-Addo – NPP flagbearer

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appealed to members of the party not to be dispirited about the internal happenings within the NPP.

He has asked them to rather focus on campaigning against “the abysmal and disastrous Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, which has plunged the nation into economic hardships.”

Nana Akufo-Addo said whilst the leadership of the party was doing its best to bring sanity and peace within the NPP, members of the party, especially those in the diaspora, must not “inflame the situation from afar.”

According to the NPP flag bearer, some of the reports about the happenings within the NPP are exaggerated, adding that the party now has a good reason to believe that a lot of it is being instigated from outside the party.

“If we make a determined effort to stick together, we will come out strong. And I ask you to pray for our party, and support the work of its organs, the National Disciplinary Committee, the Council of Elders, the National Executive Committee, the National Council and the Regional and Constituency Executive organs. They are manned by very responsible people and I have no doubt that they do their best for all of us,” he said.

He urged all NPP members to be mindful of the fact that “we are the heirs of the noblest political tradition in Ghanaian politics, and the most durable. Our tradition has survived the deaths, detentions and exiles of the First Republic.

It has survived the various military takeovers of our history. Out of it all, it has emerged as the most formidable political party in our country with the clearest message of freedom, progress and prosperity.”

He continued, “And the eight-year government of John Agyekum Kufuor has given our country the best government in the Fourth Republic, if not in the entire history of Ghana. We are not about to throw away this proud heritage, and no machinations are going to weaken us.”

The 2016 election, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, is there for the NPP to win, adding that the NDC government has nothing to campaign on.

Meanwhile, Nana Akufo-Addo will officially name his campaign team for the 2016 elections on December 19, 2015, at the party’s Annual Delegates’ Conference, scheduled to take place in Sunyani.

He made this known when he addressed members of the NPP at the Annual Fundraising Dinner of the NPP-UK branch on Saturday.

Prior to the unveiling of the campaign team, Nana Akufo-Addo is expected, on his return to Ghana, to present the composition of his campaign team to members of the National Executive Committee and the National Council of the party.

The Sunyani Conference, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, will set the tone for the party to meet and “set the agenda and framework for the 2016 campaign, to show the world that the NPP is, indeed, all there, ready to take on the task of winning next year’s election and forming an honest government that will provide relief, progress and prosperity for the great, suffering people of Ghana.”

The 2016 campaign, the NPP flag bearer says, should be supported by all NPP members, NPP sympathizers and all those who want change in Ghana.
