No comment: Grant skips Kwarasey question

Black Stars coach Avram Grant says players who do not fit into his parameters will not be called up for national duty.

The Israeli trainer made the comment as an answer to a question about the continued absence of Portland Timbers goalkeeper,Adam Kwarasey from the national team set up.

The former number one goalkeeper has not been called up by Grant since he took over as coach a year ago inspite of his magnificent club form which has seen his club on the verge of winning the MLS  title in his first season.

At a press conference to assess his one year tenure,Grant said he would not compromise on his rules.

“Normally i do not answer questions on players.I have no personal issues with any player. For me I work for the team and this is it.There are three parameters I use in choosing players.First is quality, second is personality including mentality and discipline and everything and third and most important  of all is that the national team must be the most important thing to you”.

“I tell you also it is good for the players because there is no better stage for players than the national team. When we did well at the African Cup ,all the players had better contracts so I want them to give everything for their country because this is the only job that if you do well so many people are happy. If someone is not in the national team it means they are not following these three”.

Grant however declined comment upon further probing if he had ever extended an official invitation to the shot stopper since he took charge.
