A teenage girl was allegedly defiled by up to 27 men after being lured to a hotel on the promise of a job. The 17-year-old is believed to have been taken to Jaipur, a popular tourist destination in northern India, by her neighbours before being defiled by the gang, which included hotel staff, for more than 24 hours.
The victim was also reportedly denied food and made to stay in the small room during the attack on August 30. She complained to police when she returned to Delhi and six men have been arrested. The rest of the suspects are on the run or have not been identified, officers confirmed.
A police officer, who wanted to remain anonymous, said they had confirmed the involvement of 10 people. He added: “She was confined to a hotel where 10 people including the manager took turns To Molest her.
“She managed to escape last week and file a complaint in Delhi. Based on her complaint, we have arrested six men and we are studying the CCTV footage from the hotel to nab the rest of the suspects.”
The girl was in need of employment because her father, an alcoholic, had run the family into debt, the Hindustan Times reported.
