Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu will undergo further tests today to determine the extent of the injury he suffered while playing for his English side Bournemouth in a friendly on Tuesday.
Boss Eddie Howe was pleased with Bournemouth’s 3-0 win over Yeovil but revealed Christian Atsu picked up a back injury in the friendly.
The Cherries ran out convincing winners on Tuesday evening, with a goal from Josh King and two from Junior Stanislas doing the damage.
However, the injury scare to loan signing Atsu will concern Howe with just over a week-and-a-half to go until the club’s first-ever Premier League campaign gets underway.
Howe confirmed the Chelsea winger had been taken off after just half an hour with a back complaint and he will now be assessed in the next few days in the hope it is just a knock and he can recover in time for the big kick-off.
Howe was pleased with his side’s defending in the game but stressed there was plenty of room for improvement as well.
