Thirteen women contesting assembly elections in New Juaben

Koforidua, July 24, GNA – Thirteen women have filed their nominations to contest the upcoming district assembly elections in the New Juaben Municipality out of 169 nominations received by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The 13 women are contesting in only 12 electoral areas out of 54, with 155 male counterparts.

Madam Doreen Wepare Issaka, a graduate teacher is contesting for the Adweso Estate Electoral Area, Kate Valerie Bedjabeng, an incumbent and business woman is contesting for Residential Area, and Nana Ama Sarpong, a hairdresser is contesting for Asuofriso Electoral Area.

Madam Ivy Bonsu Bandoh, a trader is contesting the Anglican Electoral Area, Priscilla Bekoe, a teacher and Esther Adjei, a retired teacher and the incumbent, are battling it out with a male counterpart at Old Estate West Electoral Area, and it’s the only electoral area with two female contestants.

Madam Gladys Sarpong, a health worker is contesting for the Railway Station Electoral Area, Doris Aku Bansah, a trader and the incumbent is contesting for the Anlo Town South, whiles Veronica Salmatu Yakubu is battling it out with four males at the Nyamekrom Area.

Others are Madam Winnifred Anim, a public servant is contesting for the Sempoamiensa Electoral Area, Madam Adwoa Owusua, a trader is contesting for Asuogya whiles Madam Gloria Gyapong, a beautician and a businesswoman is contesting for the Akwadum Electoral Area.
