The Police Service has interdicted its officer accused of defiling a 12-year-old girl. Lance Corporal Emmanuel Bartels allegedly defiled and impregnated the girl seven months ago.
Lawyer for the victim, Francis Sosu has accused the Police Service of attempting to shield the Officer.
But PRO for the Police Service Superintendent Cephas Arthur speaking to Starr News said the docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s department for advice.
‘The Police service is not shielding this officer in question…as we speak the docket on the case has been submitted to the Attorney General’s office for the necessary steps to be taken’.
The Service has also been accused of altering the age of the victim in a bid to cover up the crime.
But Superintendent Arthur said further investigations have revealed that the victim is 17 years and not 12 as being reported.
