Baba Rahman’s proposed move from Augsburg to Chelsea seems to have hit a snag after the president of the German club said they do not need to sell the talented full back.

The Ghanaian defender has been the subject of a prolonged 15 million euros chase from Jose Mourinho’s team, who have identified him as a direct replacement for the departing Felipe Luis but Klaus Hoffman’s latest statement seems to have put paid to the chase.

“We do not need the millions we will make if we sell Baba.We are a solid team with a good balance he told Bild.

“I am optimistic that Baba will continue to be a great player for us as he has done so far.Even during this pre-season he has made a very good impression.”

Hoffman’s statement could be a ploy to squeeze more money from Chelsea for player he knows Mourinho is desperate to sign but he also has a track record as a straight shooter when it comes to speaking his mind about a club he has helped build into a solid Bundesliga outfit.

“ I am an Augsburg fan.To me it’s more important that I spend an evening watching TV with a beer after a victory than if we have more money in our account.”

“Anyways there is no need to call if the offer is less than 20 million euros.”
