National Youth Authority (NYA) in collaboration with UNFPA will celebrate this year’s (2015) international youth day which falls on 12 August 2015 to celebrate young people with series of activities across Ghana with the focus on the Central Region.
The day is set aside to bring issues concerning youth young people as well as their potential as key partners contributing towards the community, the nation and global development.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Youth Civic Engagement” and it’s rationale for the theme is to promote civic engagement and participation of young people in public life, so that they can be empowered and bring a full contribution to their society and the world at large.’’
In an interview between Mr Ernest Amoako a director in-charge of the NYA/UNFPA youth programmes and Uniiq fm’s Nana Akwasi Agyei-Tripple on Arise Ghana youth radio programme yesterday activities planned for the Central Region will include a clean-up exercise and health screening to be held on Tuesday August 11 at Elmina and Cape Coast to as prelude to an international youth day rally on the following day – August 12 –at the Jubilee park Cape Coast.
The youth rally will be addressed by HIS EXCELLENCY the President of the Republic of Ghana as the special guest of honour. In addition, the Electoral commissioner, members of parliament from the Central Region as well as Traditional leaders will be in attendance.
