Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan says his goal against the Czech Republic at the 2006 World Cup ranks as his most memorable World Cup goal.
Gyan, who has scored a goal in two matches since his record transfer from Emirati side, Al Ain to the Super League side made the revelation during an interview session on popular Chinese micro blogging site Weibo, after he was asked which was his most impressive World Cup finish.
“It was at the 2006 World Cup in Germany at my first World Cup and i scored the fastest goal of that tournament against the Czech Republic. Of course there are other moments, such as the goal I scored against the USA in 2010 in extra time. That goal took us to the quarter finals. However that goal against the Czech Republic stands out for me.”
With his SIPG side still top of the league after a goalless draw against title rivals Beijing Guoan on Monday, Gyan says he feels his form is returning with more game time.
“Mentally I have no problems with being here.I have always being like that since my childhood. Physically though it will be difficult to say when I will be 100 percent.I need to play more games to adjust and get my rhythm .
