THE RUNNING MATE of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to shun religious and sectorial differences for the prosperity of the country.
The NPP running mate prayed for the nation to remain peaceful, and advised all citizenry to continue to remain resolute in the midst of the political challenges as 2016 general election approaches.
Dr Bawumia made the remarks when he joined Muslims who converged at Sakasaka Park in Ashaiman to mark this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer after a 30-day fast.
He was accompanied by Kamara-Deen Abdulai, Coordinator of the Nasara Club of the NPP and some party stalwarts from the national and Ashaiman branches.
Dr Bawumia stressed the need for Ghanaians, especially Muslims to shun any form of sentiment for the overall development of the nation.
Sheik Mustapha Haruna Sassy, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Imam, who led the Muslims in the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer, advised Muslims to peacefully co-exist with their Christian brothers.
He urged the youth to be circumspect in whatever they do in order to prevent any act of violence in the country.
In his remarks, Ibrahim Baidoo, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ashaiman, urged the youth in the society to remain focused and engage in fruitful ventures.
He commended the government for introducing programmes towards reducing the economic hardship being faced by the youth in the country.
At Tema, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Imam, Alhaji Abubakari Adams, who led the prayers, thanked all Muslims in the country for living peacefully with the Christians for the sake of peace and development.
He admonished the youth about the need to contribute their quota towards national development.
There were prayers said for the nation, the president and other leaders and for those who lost their lives in the June 3, 2015 disaster in Accra that claimed over 200 lives.
