Akua Donkor Storms Italy With Mahama

Maverick politician, Akua Donkor, was part of President John Mahama’s entourage that visited Italy for an official engagement last week.

Pictures emerging from the president’s trip shows Akua Donkor, who describes herself as founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), competing for space with ministers of state like Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Trade and Industry; Fifi Kwetey, Food and Agriculture; Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, Secretary to the President as well as institutional heads like Dr. Stephen Opuni of Cocobod and Kwadwo Twum-Boafo of Free Zones Board.

It is not clear who sponsored Madam Akua Donkor’s trip but a source at the presidency said she was part of the official delegation that was wooing Italian investors to Ghana.

She is reported to have told Asempa Fm that “I was in Talensi when protocol called me that there was a trip to Italy and that I was part. I didn’t even know till then. I went there because Mahama is going to do all the rails. And fix the dumsor. There will never be dumsor again because of the Italy trip. Aside the president and the protocol, my inclusion was more important than all the others who were also on the trip.”

The excitement was visible on her face as she smiled in most of the photos published by the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau.

It is not the first time Akua Donkor has accompanied President Mahama on an official visit outside Ghana.

She was part of the president’s delegation that visited London, UK, recently on a trade and investment forum where she was captured on camera sleeping throughout the event.

She was also a participant at the National Economic Forum held in Senchi, Volta Region, last year and accompanied the president to Nigeria for the swearing-in of President Mohammadu Buhari in May this year.

She is always seen giggling, especially on breakfast table, while in most of the serious sessions she is captured dozing, raising concerns about why state resources should be wasted on her.
