Ghanaian playmaker Alhassan Kalusha has failed to land a contract at South African top division side University of Pretoria.

The former Tura Magic attacker spent some time on trial at the capital side and despite impressing in his time at the club, he couldn’t do enough to convince the AmaTuks technical team to offer him a permanent contract.

“Kalusha came and he wasn’t bad at all. There were definitely good aspects of his game, but I don’t think he was better than what we had,” AmaTuks head coach Sammy Troughton said of the player.

“His position limited him, because he sees himself as an attacking midfielder and here at Tuks we tend to play with midfielders that can attack and defend.

“He actually showed a bit of promise in defending, he wasn’t bad at all, but as a foreigner in that position you will have to be head and shoulders above the rest, but he wasn’t. He is a good player, he did well, but not [enough] to sign at this stage.”
