The Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V has challenged Ghanaians to speak out on issues of national importance and ignore political tagging.
According to him, the current phenomenon where people are branded as belonging to one political party or the other when they criticize the government or parties in opposition is a deliberate ploy by political parties to deter the citizenry from holding them to account.
Speaking to Joy News, Nana Kobina Nketsia said Ghanaians should not yield to such strategies since the nation’s survival hinges on accountability.
“When you stop making your contribution to the country, then the country is dead. Let not those who strive on division stop you from talking about the unity and progress of this country. Once you stop it then we have lost the country”.
He said although people have criticized him because of his views, he will not stop talking because “so long as I know it is the truth I’ll say it”.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V said some people will do whatever they can to divide the country but that should not deter us from saying what is right.
The traditional leader also believes that although Ghana is struggling to get better, “we will get there”.
