If your ever thought rap music was for lazy souls or school dropouts? You better reconsider as 22 year old Ghanaian rap artist Solomon Tettey popularly known by his stage name Signal challenged renowned American rapper J. Cole to his GPA.

Scoring an outstanding GPA of 3.72 as a biochemistry and biotechnology student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, Signal believes his feat is a clear example of focus.

Signal begun his rap journey in Ghana Senior high School about a decade ago from where he became affiliated with Nu_Africa records at age 16. Known for his witty bars and punchlines, Signal won several rap battles before leaving high school.

The drive and passion did not end there as he moved on to De-Genius selection were he recorded with great acts such as Raquel, Kesse and many others.

In 2013, Signal put up an extraordinary performance at the maiden edition of Ghana DJ awards. He also performed at Etisalat tour in Nigeria sharing same stage with Naeto C, Flavour and others.

He was then chosen to represent Ghana in Nokia 2013 rap competition where he excelled.

Whilst in school, Signal did a lot of TV commercials. The most notable is Next Big Thing in Ghana Rap competition. He was also the entertainment chairman for College of Science.

He has to his credit a classic rap album- Accolade mix tape

Signal is now working arduously on his next album, named MGM EP.

With his academic credentials, Signal was ranked the best in Chemistry in Ghana (by Quiz up) in September 2014.

The rapper has also conducted a number of research on health and is an adjunct maternal health activist and a dietitian.
