Actress Christabel Ekeh has debunked the perception her absence from the make-believe world is as a result of new faces gracing the silver screens in recent times.
According to the Peep actress, new faces in the movie industry can never stop her from doing what she loves best. In fact, nothing will stop her from acting and even if something will, that thing is yet to exist.
“To say I have been missing in action because of new female entrants is funny. I don’t own this industry therefore; I cannot say everything should be about me.
“After all, others paved the way for me to also become part of the industry so there is absolutely nothing wrong if there are new faces.
“Moreover, I am not in competition with any one and I must say that there are great talents out there for any film producer to use movies,” she told Showbiz in an interview at her home in East Legon.
Touching on the concerns of her fans with comments on social media regarding her recent low key status, Christabel said “I have been reading comments from people on my social media pages asking what I have been up to and whether I have stopped acting but I would like to use this opportunity to clear the air and tell them, I am still into movies. I appreciate all the love and concerned showered on me.
“You see our job is such that, sometimes things become slow. I have featured in a lot of movies which are yet to be released. A lot goes into production- editing and the rest. So sometimes, it takes a while for a movie to come out”, she said.
“I have no plans of quitting movies even though I have other businesses. Acting is all about passion and I have plenty of that for acting. I love what I do so I am not stopping now. In fact, this is just the beginning of greater things to come in my career”, she added.
Born some 22 years ago to a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father, Christabel got her big break in the movie industry in Ghana when she featured in Deadly Passions, alongside John Dumelo and Yvonne Nelson about four years ago.
Christabel who was first runner-up at Miss Malaika 2008 has featured in movies such as College Girls, Before Noon, Sugar Boy, Afia and Friends, The Battle, Sweet Mistake and Wrong Target.
