Live updates: Privileges Committee grills Prof. Dodoo, Joy FM’s Kojo Yankson

Background
Professor Alex Dodoo is set to defend comments he made on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show which allegedly attacked the integrity of MPs over the failed Ebola vaccines trial in Hohoe.

The WHO scientist and Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Ghana has appeared with host of the programme, Kojo Yankson.

Proceedings at the Privileges Committee began 10:45am

Counsel for the witness wants to know if the hearing is an investigative work or a trial. A member of Privileges Committee read from the standing orders of Parliament to explain the work of the Privileges Committee.

MP for Ho West, Emmanuel Bedzrah, who filed the motion to invite the Professor has sworn his oath and takes the witness stand. He recalls the 10 June proceedings in Parliament where he complained about the recruitment of some people to participate in an Ebola vaccine trial.

He refers to the NDC Volta regional caucus in Parliament which issued a statement in parliament asking to know whether enough sensitization has been done before the trial. He says the mention of Ebola evokes fears in the minds of people.

He said the Health minister has admitted that not enough sensitization has been done hence his directive that the exercise should be suspended.
