Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for West Africa will deliver this year’s chapter of the annual Ramadan lectures on Sunday 19th July 2015.

The annual lecture, the fifth so far, is under the auspices of the Moslem Youth in Free Enterprise (MYFE) and the Office of the National Chief Imam.

Scheduled to hold at the Holiday Inn in Accra it will start at 3pm and end at 6pm with Dr. Chambas speaking on the theme ‘Effective Leadership, Governance and Morality.’

The theme, organizers said, is intended to bring to the fore the critical importance and role of morality in effective governance.

On why Dr. Chambas was chosen they said that ‘his vast and rich experience in various high profile positions he has held and still holds and mediated in several delicate and sensitive issues on leadership and governance locally and internationally informed that decision.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.

According to the organizers of the programme it will take the form of an interactive forum with the audience engaging the various speakers, especially the keynote speaker.

Participants will come from a varied background such as the diplomatic community, business and corporate sector, the media, politics not forgetting government, the Islamic clergy and the general public.

The annual Ramadan lectures has become an important highlight on the Chief Imam’s calendar of activities having seen dignitaries like former President John Agyekum Kufuor making important input to it in its formative stages.

The lectures are held at the end of the annual Ramadan fasting to commemorate the end of the month-long religious exercise.
