High-life veteran Gyebu Blay Ambolley has claimed that Chairman of Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Kojo Antwi won his election through fraudulent means.
In an exclusive interview with Roman Fada on Atinka FM’s brunch time programme, ‘Edwuma oo’, on Wednesday, controversial Ambolley alleged that the GHAMRO chairman sponsored more than half of the 3,700 members of GHAMRO to various voting centers in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale to cast their vote. “His action really influenced many of the voters,” Ambolley said.
“Kojo Antwi was a member of the GHAMRO Board that was dissolved by the Human Rights Courts in July 2014, thus he is ineligible to stand for the post of Chairman. Kojo Antwi with his cronies organized shady elections and won. They were dismissed on the grounds of misappropriation of funds so his image is already dented,” Mr. Ambolley said.
“I received an amount of GHC 1,350 from GHAMBRO via mobile money but the purpose of the money was not specific so how can he [ Antwi ] account for the haphazard distribution of the cash. There must be a medical fund for our aged musicians and a source of motivation for upcoming musicians.” He added.
He further stated that, Antwi should come clean with the exact money in the coffers of GHAMBRO and account for every dime spent and specify how much a member is supposed to get.
