Notorious Jail Breaker Grabbed

Mateweni Tetteh, 25 years old, aka Atta Ayi Junior, a jail breaker who was on the wanted list of the Ghana Police Service, was finally grabbed by the Akuse police on Tuesday night at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.

Atta Ayi Junior, as at press time yesterday, was in the custody of the regional police CID assisting in investigation.

The reportedly notorious robber, a native of Odumase-Krobo, was arrested over an alleged robbery incident in Accra about six months ago, and when the police were sending him to court, he managed to escape with the handcuffs. The police officer who was escorting him to the court was interdicted by the Service.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE on the latest arrest, ACP Francis Ackah, Akuse Police Commander, said his outfit had information that the suspect was hiding at Odumase and masterminding criminal activities in the area.

ASP Ackah hinted that Mateweni Tetteh had been using a motorbike in the night for his operations. He added that the suspect did not stay in one house, and so it made it difficult for the police to cause his arrest.

The Akuse police chief, narrating further, posited that the suspect recently went to shoot a resident at Somanya and that the police ambushed and grabbed him at Odumase at a drinking spot having a nice time with some ladies.

He indicated that Tetteh would be sent to court today.
