Be Neutral EC Boss Told

It has emerged that the new chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei, hails from Axim, an ancient coastal town in the Western Region.

While congratulating her on her new appointment, Nzemas in Axim challenged the new EC boss to use her new position to serve the nation dispassionately by being neutral in the discharge of her duties.

A statement issued by members of the Network for Axim Development (NADEV) and signed by its convener, Egya Adu, read: “It was a great joy and honour for the chiefs and people of Axim and its environs when the President, through his Chief of Staff, announced Madam Osei’s new position as the Electoral Commissioner on Thursday, June 25, 2015.

‘Indeed her appointment as the new chairperson has given us the hope that our dear town and district is capable and endowed with such productive human resources.

‘We do recognise that Mrs Charlotte Osei is a well-known daughter from Axim in the Western Region.’

The network also noted that the new EC boss ‘is a fair-minded Ghanaian who has distinguished herself in rendering selfless and dedicated services in both the public and private sectors of our dear nation.’

‘With her enormous and enviable records of successes chalked during her previous positions, we have no doubt that she will excel as the new chairperson of the EC,’ the statement added.

The group further stated: ‘We also believe that her new appointment will continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the youth in Axim…’

‘Members of Network for Axim Development and the entire citizenry of Western Region are therefore delighted with the appointment.

We thank His Excellency the President and his able team for the confidence posited in one of our own.

‘We wish her well in the new office.
Once again, members of Network for Axim Development in the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, paramount chiefs, Nananom, sons and daughters of the land wish you God’s wisdom, strength and long life,” the statement concluded.
