The Egyptian FA say it will be reporting Kofi Manu to CAF for alleging an attempt to bribe Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi with a whopping $1m during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Kofi Manu who is a member of the GFA in a program on local radio station Asempa FM, claimed the GFA President was made the offer in order to throw the ultimate 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Pharaohs in Cairo.
Ghana had recorded an emphatic 6-1 win over the Egyptians in the first leg clash of the playoff.
Egypt needed to score five unanswered goals to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil at the expense of the Black Stars.
GFA member Kofi Manu alleged that an attempt was made at the time to have Ghana throw away its massive lead through an offered $1m bribe to GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
But the EFA in a statement have refuted these allegations and say it will be taking further action against Kofi Manu who made the allegations on a local radio station.
“The Egyptian FA, under the presidency of Gamal Allam, will file a complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to punish a Ghanaian Football Association member called Kofi Manu and question him,” the EFA said.
The EFA, however, adds that it will be calling on the GFA first, in order not to hurt the “good relationship that ties both associations.”
Egypt have been unable to qualify for the World Cup since their last participation in 1990.
They were presented with a unique chance to make the finals in Brazil last year after topping their preliminary qualification group.
They were however drawn against the Black Stars in a two-legged playoff for one of the five available qualification slots from Africa.
Ghana took that slot by taking a commanding 6-1 lead in the first leg clash in Accra before losing 2-1 to Egypt in the return encounter in Cairo.
