Samini has been nominated in the MAMAEvolution Award category at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
A new category at the awards is set to honour established artists who have made a mark on African and global music scene.
Samini is competing against Angolan Anselmo Ralph,Nigerians Asa ,DBanj ,P.Square, and Tuface Idibia , South African Black Coffee , Ugandan Jose Chameleone, DR Congo’s Fally Ipupa and South African HipHop Pantsula(HHP) .
MTV Base Africa announced Samini’s nod in a tweet; “Nominated in the category: Ghanaian OG, @samini_dagaati (Ghana)… #MAMAEvolution”
Vote for Samini by hastagging Evolution on Twitter or Instagram followed by name of the artist( #EvolutionSamini) or vote on mama.mtv.com.
The winner will be announced on Saturday July 18 at the Durban International Convention Centre,South Africa.
Sarkodie and Stonebwoy are also competing in the Best Male and Best New Artist categories respectively.
