The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahana, is expected to be at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday, June 27 to witness the testimonial of former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.

Appiah has been calling on some important dignitaries in the country to invite them to the grand event, and on Monday June 23, the former Juventus star called on President John Mahama at the Flagstaff House to formally inform and invite him to his testimonial match.

Appiah who qualified Ghana to her maiden appearance at the senior FIFA World Cup in 2006 (Germany) is expected to be joined by some of the most accomplished footballers of his generation at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday, June 27 for a farewell game.

Before the game on Saturday, there will be a fund raising dinner at the Banquet Hall of the State house on Friday, June 26.

Big football stars such as Yaya Toure, Samuel Eto, George Weah, Drogba, Del Piero and many others have all confirmed their participation, according to organizers of the event, Primeval Media.

A star studded Stephen Appiah XI made up of Richard Olele Kingson, Laryea Kingson, John Paintsil, Micheal Essien, Sulley Muntari, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Samuel Eto’Ó Fils, Roberto Baggio, Nigel Dejong, George Boateng, Peter Ofori Quaye, Godwin Attram, Emmanuel Adebayor will play the Black Stars in a Testimonial match aimed at honouring Appiah after calling time off his career.
