Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE indicate that a 37-year-old man believed to be mentally deranged, Seth Koblena Akakpo, a palm wine tapper, has allegedly butchered four persons to death at Pabi in the Lower West Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The victims include his seven-year-old son and his uncle’s pregnant wife, with two others sustaining injuries. Seth also died later of purported acid attack.
The bodies of the murdered have been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital awaiting autopsy.
A relative of the suspect, Kumi, when narrating the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said Koblena Akakpo was mentally ill and was sent to a pastor for deliverance six months ago. He said Akakpo had been behaving abnormally in the village and as a result, his wife abandoned the son and joined her family.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that on Wednesday at about 9pm, the suspect allegedly picked a machete and assassinated his own son, Evans Obo, when he (son) was asleep. He later purportedly visited his evil act on his uncle’s wife, Sosi Tulasi, when she heard of the infant shouting and attempted to find out what was happening to him.
According to Kumi, the suspect also injured Bernice Boateng and Daniel when they were trying to effect his arrest.
The suspect, as gathered, was able to run away when some neighbours got hint of his action and tried to arrest him. However, the angry youth on Thursday morning apprehended him by pouring acid on him before the police stormed the village to intervene.
Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, DSP Sampson Anane Appiah, Asamankese Police Commander, claimed that his outfit received the report on Wednesday at midnight and so personnel went to the village to convey the bodies to the hospital.
