Freemasons Stretch Hands To Disaster Victims

Freemasons of the District Grand Lodge (DGL) of Ghana (English Constitution) on Tuesday donated an amount of GH¢25, 000 to the TV3 June 3 Disaster Support Fund.

The fund was set up by the Accra-based media entity shortly after the flood cum fire outbreak that claimed the lives of about 200 persons within the metropolis and was subsequently launched by ex-president John Agyekum Kuffuor in support of the victims.

The District Grand Master and Head of the Fraternity in Ghana, RW Kow Abaka Quansah who presented the cheque to TV3 at a short ceremony in Accra, said the fraternity believed the donation will go a long way to bring some succor to the victims.

Mr. Quansah lamented that the disaster was one of the unfortunate incidences that had struck the nation by surprise and therefore urged Ghanaians, particularly city authorities to adopt a preventive attitude in order to avoid the recurrence of such tragedies.

Receiving the cash donation, Christian Asemsro, Head of Human Resource at TV3, said the money will be judiciously used in the appropriate quarters to support the flood and fire victims.

Mr. Asemsro commended the fraternity and urged other corporate organizations to support the fund.

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non political fraternal and charitable organizations with its values based on integrity, kindness, honesty, fairness and tolerance.

The District Grand Lodge is a Ghanaian chapter of the fraternity with its membership, numbering about one thousand.

The fraternity, with its Head Quarters in London, is the second largest philanthropic organization in the United Kingdom after the National Lottery.
