Ghanaians Want Akufo-addo In Power, Says Yaw Buaben Asamoah

The newly-elected parliamentary candidate for the Adenta constituency, Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa, says Ghanaians have come to understand that it is only an Akufo-Addo led NPP government that can rescue them from the economic hardships, widespread and rampant corruption, and rising levels of unemployment the country has been experiencing under President Mahama and his NDC government.

He disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call on Nana Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence on Monday, June 22, 2015, to formally introduce himself as the NPPโ€™s parliamentary candidate for Adenta in the 2016 election.

Accompanied by a large entourage, made up of polling station and constituency executives, and electoral area co-ordinators, Yaw Buaben Asamoa explained that โ€œthe people of Ghana are fed up, they want to try you (Akufo-Addo). It is not about governance anymore, because the people of Ghana now understand that we (NPP) can deliver governance. It is now about getting us into power.โ€

He stated further that, โ€œAdenta wants you in power. When you are in power, we will also be there with you, and we are going to make sure that we help (to make it a reality).โ€

On the 2016 parliamentary election, Yaw Buaben Asamoa noted that the feeling in Adenta is that the NPP must reclaim the seat, which it lost in 2008 to the NDC.

โ€œWe have a great opportunity, this time, to winโ€, he said, adding that โ€œinspite of us all not being here, we believe that everything will come together as we go along. I want to pledge that I will work with them (constituency executives), I will listen to them, I will follow their instructions, build a coalition of the willing, and, Insha Allah, we will deliver the Adenta seat.โ€

Nana Akufo-Addo, who was pleased by the show of brotherliness amongst the executives and the newly-elected parliamentary candidate, further urged all NPP members and sympathisers in the constituency โ€œto support him. I am appealing to all of you to stand firmly behind him and I am confident victory shall be ours in 2016.โ€

He congratulated Yaw Buaben Asamoa on his victory, going on to describe him as โ€œa young man whose profile in the party keeps rising higher and higher.โ€

In concluding, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished the gathering, and indeed all NPP members, to desist from always resorting to the use of the media in airing out grievances pertaining to internal party issues.

โ€œIf there are things you have to say which are critical in nature, please do it indoors. If there is anything you have to say to him, be it an advice or criticism, please meet him one-on-one and thrash them out. Letโ€™s move away from always sending all our problems to the radio and the newspapers,โ€ he said.
