Black Stars Skipper Asamoah Gyan, former Skipper Stephen Appiah and Togolese skipper Emmanuel Seyi Adebayor last Saturday removed their football boots and put on Wellington boots to take part in cleaning up Asafo Cement in Kumasi.

The exercise, a collaboration between Zoomlion Ghana and the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, attracted other international Black Stars players such as Jonathan Mensah; many Kumawood actors such as Agya Koo, Lilwin and Akrobeto; ace musician, Amakye Dede and Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu.

They rid the area of rubbish and weeds and cleared choked gutters.

Addressing the press after the exercise, Asamoah Gyan said the move was another initiative by his foundation, with support from Zoomlion, to whip up public interest in ensuring environmental cleanliness.

He urged the public to refrain from disposing of rubbish indiscriminately and impressed on all to periodically clean their environment to prevent the occurrence of diseases and disasters.
