Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Allotey Jacobs has revealed that the executives in the region will ensure first time Members of Parliament are protected in the party’s primaries.

He noted that if anyone contest the sitting MP, executives in the Central region will skew the results to ensure the incumbent retains the seat.

Allotey Jacobs comment comes following the defeat of first time MPs of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). About 50 percent of the new MPs were shown the exist by delegates who wanted a change.

This many political pundits believe could affect the opposition party’s performance in Parliament.

Speaking on Accra based Kasapa FM Friday, Allotey Jacobs vowed to ensure NDC delegates does not repeat the mistake of the NPP.

This, move he said, is to prevent the party from presenting novice and immature candidates in Parliament ahead of the 2016 elections.

The Central Region NDC Chairman added that he will not allow anything to destroy his target of winning more seats for the party in the region.

On the way out, Allotey Jacobs revealed that they are talking to those lacing their boots to contest the MPs to rescind their decision to contest.

“We won’t allow our hard working MP’s to be contested and defeated by novice and inexperience people who will come and give us more problems” he said.
