Poor officiating: Coach Bashiru Hayford: Match results are in referees pockets

Bashiru Hayford has leveled allegation against referees on the local scene for manipulating results in the First Capital Plus Premier League.

Ashanti Gold were held to a one all draw by Inter Allies at the Tema AstroTurf in a game the Miners had a goal disallowed.

Bashiru Hayford has therefore hit out at the centre referee for poor officiating and has blamed him for his side’s failure to walk away from Tema with all the three maximum points.

‘Match decisions are in the pocket of the referee. We scored a perfect goal, but the he disallowed the goal,’ he told Metro fm.

‘Then after we scored another goal, but he helped Inter Allies to get the equalizer. All the other referees who were at the stadium to watch the game criticized the decision of the referee.

In relation to the above, Bashiru Hayford has been tagged as a coach with poor run in the second half of the league, but he believes that assertion is wrong and even if it holds, referees are the ones behind that.

‘There is no scientific proof that I don’t perform well in the second round, so I want someone to proof me wrong.

‘Even if what people say is true, you could see that it is not Bashiru Hayford who doesn’t do well in the second round, but it is rather the referees are who always cause it, he added.

Awal Mohamed was the centre referee in the Inter Allies-Ashgold mid-week clash on Wednesday.

This is not the first time Ashanti Gold have complained of poor officiating against them in the second half of the league, they came out strongly following their 2-2 draw against Hearts of Oak in Accra in a game that the Phobians were awarded a penalty during injury time to get the equalizer.
