Pacesetter: Stephen Appiah has created a good path for us in Italy Badu


Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has said former captain of the national team, Stephen Appiah laid a very good foundation which has created a good path for Ghanaian players in Udinese and Italy as a whole.

According to Badu, Appiah, who played for Udinese, distinguished himself well in the club and remains a household name in the club.

‘Supporters of the club keep asking of Stephen Appiah anytime they meet you. His commitment and dedication to the cause of the club remains a major topic in the city,” Agyemang Badu revealed.

‘This has given some us special advantage in our career in Italy and we are grateful for his efforts,” he said full of gratitude.

According to Badu, Appiah has also distinguished himself as the leader of the Black Stars and remains one of the successful captains of the Ghana national team.

‘He was a great player and a leader. We all benefited from his exemplary leadership and we must all contribute towards the success of the (testimonial) match,” the Udinese midfielder said.

‘I will be available for that match and l believe it will be great day for us to honour our dear captain,’ he added.

The Italy based player called on football fans to fill the stands on June 27, to bid the former captain farewell.

“There cannot a better thank you package than filling the stands to appreciate the inspirational role of the former captain,” the workaholic midfielder said.
